WHAT IS BUTCHER JONES SURF CO.?

WE'RE STILL FIGURING OUT WHAT WE WANT TO BE WHEN WE GROW UP.

At heart, we’re scrappy art school kids with big ambitions and the same pioneering spirit as those who once traversed these harsh desert conditions to strike gold. We are a lifestyle grown from a unique blend of city roots, California dreams, Caribbean soul, and finally finding a place to call home in the desert mystique.

OUR STORY BEGINS IN THE SNOWY MIDWEST.
A LONGING FOR CHLORINE-GREEN HAIR, PALM TREES & SUNSHINE.

In California, we found our tribe of like-minded misfits—surf & skate competitions, running with the bands along Sunset Strip, and spending nights into mornings at the eclectic bungalows in Laurel Canyon where sounds of the '60s still hauntingly echo.

The night was our playground, the witching hour was our call.
We sang, wrote music, talked for hours, and laughed into the night.
We felt important, and our art was critical.

ARIZONA CAME ON A WHIM.

A land of contrasts and surprises unveiled a deep connection to the native energy of the land.

The irony of "surfing in the desert" captures the essence of Butcher Jones Surf Co.
Arizona's magical landscapes and legendary lore are the perfect backdrop for our unique brand.

And now, with the opening of Revel Surf at Cannon Beach, we will surf the desert once again!

BUTCHER JONES SURF CO. IS FOR THE ECLECTIC, WITTY, AND IRONIC.

It’s for those who exist for the mercury hitting 100º but appreciate coastal June gloom.
It’s the nostalgic longing for childhoods spent at Big Surf, hidden beaches at Saguro Lake, and the mysterious allure of the Lost Dutchman gold mine.

THE GOOD DOCTOR

Legend has it that Dr. Jones was an early settler of Arizona, renowned for his ventures from gold mines to cattle ranching. Despite his visionary pursuits, Jones was a dubious doctor, allegedly conducting surgeries from his kitchen table, leading to the nickname "Butcher." While the true identity of Butcher Jones remains shrouded in mystery, the name now adorns the Butcher Jones Beach and Trail at Saguaro Lake (pronounced "suh-WAHR-oh") near the Superstition Mountains, capturing the enigmatic spirit of Arizona's past.
